Gurellu Chutney

Gurellu Chutney, also known as Uchellu Chutney or Niger Seeds Chutney, is a flavorful condiment made from niger seeds (Gurellu in Kannada language). This chutney is a popular accompaniment in South Indian cuisine and is typically served as a side dish with rice, dosa, idli, or other breakfast items.

Ingredients:

• Niger seeds (Gurellu) – 1/2 cup
• Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
• Dry red chilies – 4 to 5 (adjust according to spice preference)
• Tamarind – small piece (about 1/2 inch)
• Jaggery or sugar – 1 teaspoon (optional)
• Salt – to taste
• Water – as needed
• Oil – 1 teaspoon
